With a background in operations management, project management, business applications and lean implementation, Jim Fay brings more than 25 years of manufacturing experience to Maine MEP. Jim joined the field team as a Senior Project Manager in 2018, leveraging his experience to provide performance assessments, training, and technical assistance to clients. 

Jim has experienced firsthand the impact and benefits of working with an MEP. As Operations Manager at DR Power Equipment in Vermont, Jim was pivotal in procuring the assistance of the Vermont Manufacturing Extension Center (VMEC) to assist with DR’s LEAN implementation. He successfully launched more than nine new product categories during his six years leading manufacturing at DR Power, and has experience in single piece flow, pull systems, visual controls, mistake proofing, 5S, and daily management systems.

Prior to that, Jim worked at the Owens Corning Composites Solutions Business, formerly located in Brunswick, Maine, where he held the position of Plant Manager at the Technical Fabrics facility. At Owens Corning, Jim was responsible for maintaining the plant’s quality management systems, implementing global best practices, and managing plant capital improvements. 

Jim earned his Lean Bronze Certification through the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) in 2013, graduated from the Owens Corning Operations Excellence Leadership Program through The Ohio State University Fisher School of Business, and earned a certificate from the Management Excellence Series at Champlain College. 

Jim holds a BS in Horticulture the University of Maine Orono.
