Debra J. Gibb has been in the field of nonprofit accounting for more than 25 years, providing oversight and support for all levels of organization finances. Her background includes accounting and compliance with federal, state, and private funding sources, staff motivation and leadership, and creating efficiencies through improved processes. She has supervised auditing processes, including Uniform Guidance audit.
With her extensive experience in nonprofit accounting and expertise in Generally Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP), she supports all business units and assists in administrative and financial management of Maine MEP. She works closely with the President to coordinate and supervise accounting and administrative tasks, manage the budget, develop and implement a financial dashboard for Center leadership, and oversee the financial and accounting system controls and standards. Debra administers the reporting process for federal and state funding partners and provides leadership in annual audits and internal controls and processes.
In her previous position as Director of Accounting at Coastal Enterprises, Inc., Debra worked with upper management to guide preparation of the $2.6 million annual budget, oversaw consolidations of CEI entities, and managed the accounting department. Over the course of 23 years at CEI, she also served as Senior Asset Manager. In this role, she provided administrative and fiscal leadership to the Housing Program and managed and oversaw day-to-day operations to ensure a smooth and efficient work environment. Prior to that, as CEI’s Housing Financial Manager, she provided leadership and support to the Senior Program for Housing and the Housing Program staff.
