CHIPCO AWARDED GRANT SUPPORT FOR WORKER TRAINING

Augusta, ME - The Central/Western Maine Workforce Investment Board of Central/Western Maine, in partnership with the Maine Department of Labor, has awarded CHIPCO a $50,000 worker training grant, funded through the Maine Manufacturing Extension Partnership US Department of Labor Grant.

CHIPCO International manufacturers components used by the “RFID” inventory control and tracking system. The company seeks to become a leader in the emerging RFID market, an innovative manufacturing process designed to trace inventory items including hard and soft goods as well as livestock. The importance of the RFID technology is comparable to the “bar coding” system now used universally in wholesale and retail markets worldwide.

RFID is an example of a key high growth technical manufacturing company in an industry identified by the Federal government and the State of Maine as a key to economic progress. The Central/Western Workforce Investment Board provides funding and collaborative support for local business needs for workforce employment and training.
